I started with designing an original character in my sketchbook randomly and then brought it to life in Illustrator.
In the second pic, you can see that I started the base colors and shading for the girl and kept the rough kind of vibe going on with her skin and background because I felt it matched her character. I wanted to mainly focus on her face and hair blowing in the wind effect. So, I kept everything else as simple as possible. I added lots of white glows to make her appear she is glowing with a blank stare like the Mona Lisa while wearing a blue dress. The watercolor effect was added because I love watercolors and I felt like it brought her more to life.
This is one of my favorite characters I created because I created her with me in mind and how I felt at the time of just like the wind. Personification is what I wanted to try. Nobody really caring about me and I was just a gust of wind to them, but to try to bring the wind to life is something I'm proud of.
